Debt~ Please help?

A few years back when I was in high school and getting all of these credit card offers I was stupid and did what many teens do and open all of the accounts and now I got myself into some trouble. I know I have been turned over to collections but even collections are no longer sending me letters asking for payments now.

I am wanting to pay off these companies that I owe to the only problem is, I dont know who and how much I owe!

Is there a way I can figure out who I owe money to and how much? and also is there a way that I can take all these bills and somehow put them into one so Im only making 1 payment?

Help please, and no rude comments or remarks please I know I messed up big time!

Also it is no more than $10,000. Im not sure of the exact amount but my highest credit card was $2000.00

The first step to finding out who you owe money to is to pull your credit reports. The three credit bureaus are: Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. You can get one free credit report (annually) from each credit bureau via www.annualcreditreport.com. Between these three, you should have all your creditors listed. You could also contact your local CCCS (consumer credit counseling service). I believe you can go on line to www.moneymanagement.org for more information. With CCCS, they work with all your creditors and make payment arrangements. You make one payment to CCCS and they pay the creditors. This does cost a monthly fee which is included in your monthly payment. Most people aren%26#039;t keen on paying a fee, but this organization is recognized world-wide and creditors will work directly with them more likely than working directly with you. If this is not an option for you, then check with your financial institution for advice. Perhaps you could do a consolidation loan. Good luck to you - kudos to you for wanting to pay the debt incurred. Take care of it now - the balances will only increase in time.

check your credit score online, it gives you a list of what credit you have..good luck|||You can contact a Credit Repair service like Consumer Credit Counseling - they can look up your debt and arrange for you to pay it. It is important you look into resolving this sooner better than later or it can ruin your credit for years to come. Good Luck!|||I would recommend first getting a copy of your three credit reports. You can get a free copy of each from AnnualCreditReport.com.

Once you get these reports see if there are any current collection accounts listed. Also, you should know that if a debt is older than 7 years it will fall off of your credit report and not affect your score. Also, collection agencies or lenders have a certain time period where debts can be legally obtained. This is called the statute of limitations. If this time has passed then they can%26#039;t legally sue you for anything.

If you see any negative information on the report you can start by submitting a dispute to the credit bureau to see if it will fall off, or if it will be verified. If it is verified then you can contact that agency and work out a payment plan.

Check out information on CreditInfoCenter.com. They have some great information on credit repair.
